Spring Giving Month 2021

In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the ASE Foundation encouraged donations in honor of women who have had an positive impact in your life. All of the honored women are featured on this page!

Thank you to our amazing supporters who sprung into action and kick started our 2021 annual appeal!

In total we raised $6,625 from 21 donors!

 

ASEF is proud to shine a spotlight on these amazing women.

Kicking off the donations, a donor gave in honor of ASE’s first 6 female presidents – Drs. Pam Douglas, Linda Gillam, Patricia Pellikka, Susan Wiegers, Vera Rigolin, and current president Judy Hung – making history and leading with style!

 

Melissa Wasserman, RDCS, RCCS, FASE donated in honor Dr. Meryl Cohen in celebration of National Women’s History Month. “Dr. Cohen has been an incredible mentor, always encouraging my involvement within the ASE and I’m so thankful for her unwavering support.”

 

 

 

 

Kristen Billick, BS, ACS, RDCS (AE, PE), FASE donated in honor of Sandra Hagen-Ansert, RDCS, RDMS, MS, FASE, FSDMS. “Happy National Women’s History Month! Thank you for mentoring me for most of my echo career. You have also been a good friend and mother-figure. I would not be who I am today without your support and guidance over many years.”

 

 

 

Kristen Billick, BS, ACS, RDCS (AE, PE), FASE also donated in honor of Peg Knoll, RDCS, RCS, FASE. “Happy National Women’s History Month! Thank you for being my mentor over the past few years. What I love most about you is how you make sure to support women in growing their careers. You’ve had a direct impact on my own career and I’m so lucky to have you to whip me into shape! You also bring a good sense of humor and the honesty that we all need to hear sometimes. I appreciate you and thank you!” 

Julius Gardin, MD, FASE also donated in honor of Peg Knoll, RDCS, RCS, FASE. “In honor of Peggy Knoll: an amazing sonographer, mentor and friend.”

 

In celebration of National Women’s History Month, one donor is celebrating all the women at ASE who are shaping our future like Melissa Wasserman, RDCS, RCCS, FASE leading a writing group to create new guideline this month that will save the lives of babies with congenital heart disease!

 

 

 

 

Jeff Hill, BS, ACS, FASE donated in honor of three special women, including Michelle Bierig, PhD, ACS, RCS, RDCS, FASE, Jane Marshall, RDCS (AE/PE), FASE, and Koko (Margaret) Park, BS, ACS, RDCS, RVT, FSDMS, FASE. “Three brilliant and amazing cardiovascular sonographers that continue to inspire me to work hard and to do my best in the field of echocardiography!”

 

Arissa Cooper donated in honor of Angie Porter and Tricia Meeks. “Thanks for all the support and laughter over the years. Thanks for being great mentors and even better friends.”

 

 

 

Anuj Mediratta, MD, FASE donated in honor of Jeanne DeCara, MD, FASE. “For Women’s History Month, I would like to donate in honor of the amazing women educators. Dr. Jeanne DeCara has been an incredible educator for the fellows at the University of Chicago. Her thoroughness taught fellows (and colleagues) the most important lesson in echocardiography: the details count.” 

 

 

 

Donna Yap, RDCS, RVT donation in honor of Helen Potter, RDMS, RCVT, RDCS, FASE. “Happy National Women’s History Month!! Thank you for always being so patient and mentoring me throughout my echo career. You have helped me and guided me as a teacher and friend. I will always remember your kindness and how you handled everything with humbleness and class.”

 

 

 

Christal Wilson, ACS, RCS, FASE donated in honor of Allyson Boyle, ACS, BS, RDCS, FASE. “Happy National Women’s History Month!” Thank you for all of your support and kindness. She has encouraged me to become more than I ever thought possible. I owe her many thanks and sincere gratitude.” 

 

 

Merri Bremer, EdD, RN, ACS, RDCS, FASE donated in honor of her mother, Pat Bremer. “In honor of my mother, the strongest woman I know. Love you, Mom.”

Andie Piddington donated in memory of Melanie Hansen. “Your determination to fight through struggles and to help others will continue to inspire all who knew you, and to serve as an amazing example to our nieces.”

Elizabeth Le, MD, FASE donated in honor of Flordeliza Villanueva, MD. “Thank you Dr. Villanueva for being an exemplary role model for all fellows who came after you! Your work ethic was legendary.”

 

 

 

Alan Pearlman, MD, FASE donated in honor of Pam Douglas, MD, FASE. “On Member Appreciation Day, in honor of Pam Douglas’ spectacular career, and the many talented Women of ASE who are too numerous to mention by name.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Benjamin Eidem, MD, FASE donated in memory of his mother, Mrs. Susan Eidem. “This donation, during Women’s History Month, is to honor a truly remarkable mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wife who passed away on March 1st this year but lives on in our hearts.
