This event was a collaboration between the ASE Foundation, the Vietnam National Heart Association, the Vietnam National Heart Institute at Bach Mai Hospital, and the Vietnam Society of Echocardiography in October 2017. A team of 11 ASEF volunteers were honored to be included in the Vietnam National Heart Association’s annual meeting in Thanh Hóa City. Following the meeting the team spent two days doing patient outreach at two local commune clinics. After returning to Hanoi, they spent three days at Bach Mai Hospital, training cardiac ultrasound technologists.
This event was supported by a grant from Edwards Lifesciences Foundation Every Heartbeat Matters program.

Vietnam National Heart Association’s Annual Meeting
The team delivered two days of lectures dedicated to imaging in heart failure as well as hands-on scanning demonstrations and training, including 3D and strain acquisition and analysis. Attendees received copies of two essential ASE guidelines translated into Vietnamese, as well as a USB drive loaded with the full set of ASE guideline documents in English.

The team participated in two days of patient outreach at two local commune clinics where they assessed 383 patients.
Clinician Training at Bach Mai Hospital
The team spent three days at Bach Mai Hospital, working in the adult and pediatric cardiac units, and helping train five cardiac ultrasound technologists to acquire images and perform measurements following a basic protocol.
