About The Event

ASE Foundation volunteers traveled to Havana, Cuba where they conducted a 3-day training event for 300+ Cuban cardiologists. In partnership with th Echocardiography Section of the Cuban Society of Cardiology, and InterAmerican Association of Echocardiography, the volunteers organized a training event at theatre of Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, the premier hospital in Havana.

Interest of holding an event in Cuba increased as travel became less restrictive for US citizens. Working with Dr. Prohias as the Cuban echocardiographer, discussions began to identify the right type of event to coduct in Cuba to best fit the needs  of the country. In this case, there was a need for advanced training for physicians. Expert speakers would travel to Cuba to make advanced training available for all echocardiographers in that country.  The goal of this event was deepening relationships with a potential long-term partner in Cuba, advanced training for attendees in Cuba, improved patient care, and cultural and educational exchange.
