ASE’s goal in establishing its Annual Appeal was to create a new culture of engagement and support through the ASE Foundation. The organization wanted to institutionalize giving to its Foundation to provide yearly funding to underserved areas not covered by ASE member dues, programs such as research, scholarships, quality initiatives, etc. The organization’s plan is to build on the successes of the Annual Appeals as it looks ahead to the possibility of conducting a larger visionary initiative in the coming years. The first Annual Appeal campaign was undertaken in 2011.
Members of the Society volunteer on the ASE Foundation’s Annual Appeal taskforce to assist the organization to attract donations from members, nonmembers, the public and other institutions. Donations can be earmarked to a particular area of the Foundation’s funding. The yearly funding outlay and projects are determined by the ASE’s Board of Directors.
